Pokequizz Shiny Hall, the showcase of shiny Pokémon
A shiny Pokémon is an extremely rare color variant of a Pokémon. On Pokequizz, every game you play gives a small chance to unlock one. This page gathers all the players lucky enough to have landed one, with the Pokémon obtained and the date.
Where shinies come from in the Pokémon games
Shiny Pokémon first appeared in the second generation, with Pokémon Gold and Silver in 1999. A shiny has no better stats than its normal counterpart: only its color palette changes, along with a small sparkle animation and a sound when it shows up. Its value is purely symbolic, which has never stopped players from pouring hundreds of hours into hunting them.
Their rarity explains the fascination. From the second to the fifth generation, the base probability was 1 in 8192 per encounter. It was doubled from the sixth generation onwards, moving to 1 in 4096, the rate still in force in recent titles. Those figures are for a raw encounter, before the hunting methods and items that improve them.
Drop rates on Pokequizz
On Pokequizz the roll happens server side at the end of every won game, and only a won one: a lost game never rolls. The rate depends on the mode. A game in Common mode gives a 1 in 512 chance. A game in Replay mode gives 1 in 1024, half as much, since nothing limits how many you play.
PVP mode works differently: the chance is computed at the end of the match in proportion to your correct answers, at 1 in 2048 per correct answer, capped at thirty. A match with ten correct answers is therefore worth 10 chances in 2048, and a perfect match with thirty correct answers climbs to 30 in 2048, roughly 1 chance in 68. It is by far the best way to hunt on the site.
These rates are deliberately far more generous than the official games: on Pokequizz a shiny plays out over a few hundred games, not a few thousand encounters. The point is that a regular player eventually lands one, rather than giving up on it.
Which shiny drops, and why
The shiny you get is not drawn at random from the whole Pokédex: it is the mascot of the quiz you were playing. Wordle gives Jolteon, the Types quiz gives Vaporeon, Silhouette gives Sylveon, Cry gives Jigglypuff, Moveset gives Mewtwo, Odd One Out gives Ditto, and so on across the twelve quizzes.
If you already own that quiz mascot, the server falls back to a reserve collection of ten iconic Pokémon and grants you one at random among those you are still missing. A shiny you already own is therefore never drawn twice, and the roll only turns barren once the collection is complete.
The drop is rare and purely random: it can happen on any quiz, in common mode as well as replay. The more you play, the more you increase your chances of appearing in this showcase.
