The Pokémon card game and TCG Pocket
The Pokémon Trading Card Game has existed since 1996 and remains one of the most popular in the world. In 2024 came Pokémon TCG Pocket, a mobile app that lets you open booster packs and collect digital cards with often spectacular artwork. It is these cards that the quiz starts from.
Each card stages a Pokémon in a unique illustration, sometimes far removed from its official artwork. The blurred version hides the details and at first lets only the colors and overall silhouette show through.
Guessing through the blur
Rely on the color palette and the pose of the Pokémon, which stay visible even heavily blurred. With each guess the card sharpens and confirms or rules out your hypothesis. Collectors often recognize a card by its frame and background before they can even make out the Pokémon.
