Inspired by the famous Who's that Pokémon, this quiz starts from a very tight zoom on the mystery Pokémon's official artwork. With each guess the image zooms out a little and reveals more shapes and colors.
The Who's that Pokémon idea
This format takes direct inspiration from the famous Who's that Pokémon, the little game that punctuated the cartoon from 1997: a silhouette appeared before the commercial break and you had to guess the creature. Here we start from a very tight zoom on the official artwork rather than a shadow, and the image gradually reveals itself with each guess.
The image used is each Pokémon official artwork, recognizable by its style. More than a thousand creatures across the nine generations can appear, regional forms from Kanto to Paldea included.
Visual strategy to recognize it fast
Focus first on the overall silhouette and the most distinctive features: a flaming tail, big ears, a horn, a shell. The dominant color, then the secondary color revealed across guesses, often points to a type. A single unique detail is sometimes enough to decide between two very similar Pokémon.
